With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and under the coordination of the National Library of Armenia, within the framework of the project “Armenian Literature in Translations”, the collection “Freedom” by Sergei Parajanov, including letters and scripts published in Latvia, is being opened.

The book was translated by Ilze Paegle-Mkrtchyan and published by the Petergailis publishing house. “Parajanov’s influence on the formation of the style of Latvian cinema and the tradition of poetic cinema is undeniable. Perhaps even today, the ghosts of Parajanov’s unmade films wander around Jurmala like unfulfilled dreams of a bygone era,” the preface to the book says.
