Dear librarians,
I sincerely congratulate you on your professional holiday — Librarian’s Day. This is a celebration for all those who love books, and a day dedicated to the creators, preservers, and readers of books. A library is one of the oldest cultural institutions known to humankind. It preserves everything humanity has discovered and accumulated over millennia — universal knowledge, scientific discoveries, and testimonies of worldviews and the ongoing search for truth. Therefore, the library is a guardian of documentary memory about the development of civilization.
Throughout human history, the social functions of libraries have undergone significant changes. Today, libraries contribute to the realization of the right to education, help people enjoy cultural achievements, relax, spend time meaningfully, and access information. They promote the development of science and the progress of both society and individuals. The pace of technological development and global change has placed libraries before new challenges, and in response, we are implementing comprehensive measures within state policy in this field. Just days ago, the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted amendments to the Law on Libraries and Library Work, which introduced provisions on the economic and entrepreneurial use of libraries, certification of library staff, and defined the concept of an “electronic library.” These legal regulations will contribute to improving library functions — in terms of collection development, preservation, research, promotion, and the digitization of cultural heritage through modern information technologies, as well as the continuous development of information databases and integrated automated systems.
Dear librarians, thanks to your efforts, libraries continue to open a path for people to the world of knowledge and wisdom. On the eve of your professional holiday, I extend my gratitude to all library staff for their daily hard work, for preserving national and universal heritage, for providing information, and for consistently offering high-quality services to readers. I especially express my appreciation to veterans of librarianship and library science. I am confident that your work always finds a worthy response in the hearts of grateful readers.
We wish you good health, prosperity, and many new creative successes. More information can be found .
