The National Library of Armenia received a book from the United States by Armenak Andranikyan “From Hell to Heaven. Memoirs of the Armenian Genocide and the Volunteer Army" (Antilias, 2024).

These memories and eyewitness accounts are extremely important as a source of information about the Armenian and Kurdish population of three dozen villages in the provinces of Qghi and Erzurum before the genocide. The book also contains materials about the participation of Kurds in the genocide. The memoirs provide information about the self-defense of Karin-Erzurum (1917-1918), about the mass retreat of the Armenian population to Kars and Alexandropol, as well as about the volunteer army of General Andranik. The book was donated to the library by the editor of the Armenian edition of the book, Vazgen Ghukasyan. An English translation of the memoir (translator: Vache Kazaryan) was published in Canada in 2015.
