On July 11, at 2:00 PM, the Great Hall of the National Library of Armenia will host Houri Berberian, Professor of History at the Department of Armenian Studies at the University of California, Irvine, Director of the Center for Armenian Studies, and Talin Grigor (Ter-Grigorian), Professor of Art History at the Davis Branch of the same university.
Stanford University Press recently released the important work "The Armenian Woman, Minoritarian Agency, and the Making of Iranian Modernity, 1860-1979" by Houri Berberian and Talin Grigor. Due to research, the book's authors visited the National Library of Armenia in 2022. The work focused on the history of Armenian women's organizations in Iran between 1850 and 1979. Three years of research on this subject have led Houri Berberian and Talin Gregor to Armenia, specifically to the National Library of Armenia.
And now, the result of long and consistent work, the book “The Armenian Woman, Minoritarian Agency, and the Making of Iranian Modernity, 1860-1979” has already been published, and, as the authors promised, the National Library will receive the copies it has. The first historical analysis of Armenian women in contemporary Iran is presented in this book by Houri Berberian and Talin Gregor. The activities of Armenian women's organizations are highlighted in this history, which also looks at the interactions between Armenian women and Iranian-Armenian patriarchal institutions (political parties and the church) and the kingdom and state, which are the centers of Iranian power.
