Book Giving Day at the National Library of Armenia

On February 19, the National Library of Armenia celebrated Book Donation Day. For the fourth year in a row, the National Library of Armenia, as well as a number of regional and community libraries, received book donations on behalf of the President of the Republic of Armenia. This year, the National Library of Armenia, sixteen community libraries, and three school libraries were refilled with recently published and in-demand literature as part of the campaign, enhancing library holdings and encouraging reading enthusiasm.

The event was opened and welcomed by Anna Chulyan, Director of the National Library of Armenia, emphasizing the role of books and reading and the importance of the continuous development of libraries. Liparit Melkonyan, Head of the Strategic Initiatives and Analysis Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Armenia, delivered a congratulatory speech, emphasizing that promoting reading is one of the important conditions for forming an educated and competitive society. He emphasized the importance of strengthening interest in books, especially among the younger generation.

During the event, Elina Stepanyan, Head of Employer Brand Management Division of “Inecobank CJSC”, also spoke about the importance of cooperation with the library and future plans. “Inecobank CJSC” donated books to the National Library of Armenia and five school libraries, supporting the educational process and the spread of reading among schoolchildren. Nerses Hayrapetyan, an employee of the National Library of Armenia, spoke about the importance of the initiative to donate books to libraries, emphasizing that such programs contribute to the enrichment of library collections and the strengthening of the reading culture in communities.
