Today marks the 115th anniversary of the Honored Architect of the Armenian SSR, one of the creators of Yerevan’s architectural identity—Gevorg Tamanian. His name is associated with numerous landmark buildings that have shaped Yerevan’s cultural and public environment.
Tamanian’s works stand out for their harmonious combination of classical architecture and national elements. The structures he designed are not only of architectural significance but have also become living witnesses of history for future generations.
The National Library of Armenia gratefully remembers Gevorg Tamanian. After the passing of his renowned father, Alexander Tamanian, it was he who completed the construction of the National Library building on Teryan Street, which was already under construction at the time. Later, in 1972 and 1976, the second and third wings of the library, adjacent to the garden, were built according to his designs.
