On April 29-30, 2025, the National Library of Armenia will host a two-day international scientific conference titled "France-Armenia: Historical and Cultural Dialogue." The aim of the conference is to comprehensively present the multi-layered historical and cultural relations between France and Armenia. Prominent researchers, scientists, and representatives from academic circles have confirmed their participation. They will deliver reports and engage in discussions dedicated to the centuries-old relationship between the two countries, their cooperation, literary and cultural connections, publishing heritage, and other topics.
On the first day, memoranda of understanding are planned to be signed between the National Libraries of France and Armenia, the National School of Charters, as well as with "Calfa," a French organization for modern technologies. During the conference, a book exhibition of Armenian publishing houses will be held in a separately, where publications dedicated to Armenian-French relations, translations of French literature, and more will be presented. For the first time, exceptional samples of Armenian and French antique literature and press published in France from the National Library of Armenia's rare book collection will be displayed in the library's Grand hall.
On April 30th, at 7 pm, the Gala Concert "Return to “The Metamorphoses of Tigran”” will take place at the Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre. Excerpts from Western European composers' operas related to Armenian history and culture will be performed. The concert program is dedicated to the conference's honorary speaker Alexandre Siranossian, who authored a publication on European operas with Armenian themes (Les métamorphoses de Tigrane / Alexandre Siranossian, co-auther Maxime K. Yevadian; preface by Reinhard Goebel. - Lyon: Sources d'Arménie, 2014). The closing ceremony of the conference is planned to take place at the Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre before the concert program. The conference concludes the two-month Francophone celebration in Armenia. The information partner of the conference is Le Courrier d'Erevan, the only Francophone news platform in Armenia.
