On November 19, a joint exhibition of the National Library and the Russian State Library of Arts dedicated to the history of ballet opened in the Great Exhibition Hall of the Tamanyan National Library. The works of Aram Khachatryan, Edgar Hovhannisyan, Grigor Yeghiazaryan, Grigor Akhinyan, Arno Babajanyan and other composers are presented in book and music editions, theater posters and photographs. Separate sections present Aram Khachatryan's ballets Gayane and Spartacus, photographs of the famous soloist of the Armenian ballet Vilen Galstyan, and books about him.
In her opening speech, the library director Anna Chulyan spoke about the origins of Armenian ballet, its connections with Russian and European ballet. Head of the Arts Department Hasmik Arakelyan and employee Anna Andrikyan spoke about the exhibited literature, the history of the creation of Aram Khachatryan's ballets and the soloist of Armenian ballet art Vilena Galstyan.
The photo series Names of Russian Ballet presents a collection of rare theatrical photographs of the Russian State Library of Arts from the 1890s to the present day. The Russian State Library of Arts is the richest collection of works of art in the post-Soviet space and has more than 2 million units of library storage. Ekaterina Shumyantseva, head of the library's cultural programs department, in her speech she presented the history of Russian ballet and famous figures: Anna Pavlova, Maya Plisetskaya, Vaslav Nijinsky, Ekaterina Maximova, Marius Liepa and others.
