One after another, they read their works and answered questions from the audience. A heated discussion developed around modern poetry. What does a modern poet write about, and who is he? Is it important for a writer to be original?

Our time and poetic genres are just as multifaceted. It is sometimes difficult to draw boundaries between modern prose and poetry. The events of recent years have also left their mark on the creators. They often speak in the language of journalistic notes, aphorisms, and Aesopian language.

Vadim Bem, an international guest of the National Library and a Frenchman by nationality, read a poem in French by the 18th-century poet Andre Chénier. Books by poets donated to the National Library were also displayed in the hall.
