It was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of writer, translator, prolific literary, cultural and public figure, long-time and devoted friend of the National Library of Armenia Felix Bakhchinyan. Felix Bakhchinyan is the author of more than a hundred original and translated books, compiled and published dozens of collections of short stories. A tireless literary figure, his mark on modern literature is significant and valuable.

Felix Bakhchinyan has been associated with books, literature, translation, and libraries all his life. As a researcher and scholar, he spent a significant part of his life in libraries. Bakhchinyan is associated with libraries by biography and title. He once graduated from the Echmiadzin Club and Library College. In the 1970s, he was the founding director of the centralized library system of the Tumanyan region. Felix Bakhchinyan, a great friend of the National Library of Armenia, was awarded the title of "Friend of the National Library" in 2022 for his services in replenishing the collections. From 2008 to the present day, 1,234 titles and 6,470 copies of books have been received by the library through him. We have donated some of the numerous publications of the Fridtjof Nansen Foundation founded by him to dozens of regional and public libraries in Armenia.

On the eve of his sudden death, Felix Bakhchinyan visited the National Library of Armenia. We discussed the program of the "Nansen and Armenia" morning event on October 10, during which the last book he translated was also to be presented. That day, using his long-standing connections with Georgian colleagues, Bakhchinyan introduced the directors of the national libraries of Georgia and Armenia to each other in a telephone conversation. The parties agreed to host Georgian colleagues at the National Library of Armenia in November. The name of Felix Bakhchinyan will forever remain in the book of memory of the friends of the National Library.
