At the end of the year, the National Library of Armenia published the personal bibliography of Hakob Hakobyan, a painter, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia, and recipient of the State Prize. The bibliographic list includes 1,215 publications related to Hakob Hakobyan’s work since 1945, such as books, articles, exhibition catalogs, pictorial bibliographies, booklets, invitations, announcements, and more.
The book opens with an introduction titled Hakob Hakobyan (Instead of a Portrait) by Yervand Ter-Khachatryan, bibliographic editor and artist. The editor notes, “Over several decades, a vast amount of literary and visual material has been created about Hakob Hakobyan’s painting in Armenian, Russian, and other languages, with hundreds of articles and studies written.”
To facilitate the work of those using the bibliography, supplementary lists have been compiled, including names of individuals, persons appearing in photographs, and reprints. This serves as an invaluable resource for anyone studying the life and creative path of the renowned painter. The list was compiled by Aida Adamyan, chief bibliographer of the National Library’s Bibliography Department. The book was published in a limited edition, which will be distributed to libraries, museums, and art-focused universities and educational institutions across the republic.
